❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about the platform.

SCMist is a digital expo for the global chemical industry — an always-open online showcase where chemical companies present their products, catalogs and capabilities to buyers worldwide. Picture a trade fair that never closes: you walk the aisles, visit company booths and connect with suppliers any time, from anywhere.

A digital expo is a permanent online version of a trade fair. For buyers: browse and compare suppliers worldwide in minutes — no travel, no badges, no opening hours. For suppliers: a booth that works around the clock in front of a global audience, at a fraction of the cost of a physical stand. Because it never closes and spans markets, your reach is not limited to a few days in one city.

A directory is a static list of names. A marketplace pushes you toward transactions and takes a cut. SCMist is neither — it is a living expo. Companies build rich booths with catalogs, documents and team contacts; buyers explore, compare and connect directly, with no middleman and no commission. You keep the relationship — we just provide the hall.

Yes — SCMist is built privacy-first. Staff email addresses are never displayed publicly. Sensitive details such as direct phone numbers appear only on paid booths, and only when a visitor actively chooses to reveal them. When you send an inquiry or quote request, only the information you include is shared, and it goes to the supplier's dashboard rather than being broadcast. You stay in control of what you expose and to whom.

Nothing is sold here — and that is the point. SCMist is a 7/24/365 open digital chemical expo, not a marketplace. There are no transactions, no checkout, no commission on deals. It is a showcase: companies display what they offer and interested buyers reach out directly. Everything you would do face-to-face at a trade fair — discover suppliers, view catalogs, request documents, ask for a quote — you do online, on your own schedule.

SCMist has four access levels, each unlocking more:

  • Visitor (no account) — browse the expo, company booths and catalogs.

  • Personal-email account — a verified personal login.

  • Work-email account — verify your company and unlock free supplier actions: send inquiries, request quotes, samples and meeting requests, leave reviews.

  • Paid plan — your own company booth plus premium tools: product documents (SDS/TDS), phone reveal, the Trade Board, your dashboard, and banner advertising.

You move up simply by registering with the right email and choosing a plan.

Anyone can register with a personal email, but a personal account cannot represent a company. To create or manage a company booth — and to use supplier actions like inquiries and quotes — you register with your work email on your company's own domain. That verification is what tells us, and other companies, that you genuinely belong to the business you act for. There is no upgrade from a personal account to a work account; if you started with a personal email, simply register a separate account using your work email.

Two different things often get called "pricing":

  • Product prices: SCMist is an expo, not a shop, so suppliers do not post fixed product prices. Instead you send an inquiry or request a quote, and the company replies with terms for your specific need — free once you have verified a work email.

  • Membership plans: you can compare what each plan includes and its price before you buy. Choosing and checking out happens in the Shop inside your dashboard, so you may be asked to sign in first.

Your booth is your public company page. Build it from the dashboard under Build My Company, or step-by-step in the Build-Booth wizard. Fill in your profile, contact and location, sales and distribution, compliance, and media. The more sections you complete, the stronger your Complete Profile indicator. You can preview your booth at any time before publishing.

The Complete Profile indicator shows how much of your booth you have filled in across six key areas. It is a completeness guide, not an endorsement — SCMist does not certify or vouch for any company. A fuller profile simply gives buyers more reasons to trust and contact you.

Your Catalog lives inside your company booth, so a Company Profile is the foundation — the Catalog can't stand on its own. Picture the booth as your stand at the expo and the Catalog as the shelves on it: visitors arrive at your company first, then explore what you present. Once your Company Profile is in place, the Catalog module lets you start showcasing products.

The Catalog is the showcase module — the space on your booth where products are presented to visitors, complete with technical and commercial details, SDS and TDS documents, photos, videos and brochures. A Product is a single item within that catalog. Visitors browse your catalog, open individual products, and save the documents they need to their favorites as they tour your booth.

Yes. Your Company Profile and the Catalog module form the base of your booth. From there you add product capacity in packages — for example 5, 10 or 20 products — sized to how much of your range you want to showcase. You can expand your product capacity at any time as your booth grows.

Your catalog is where you showcase what your company offers. Each product is a listing buyers can browse on your booth and across the directory.

Adding a product

Pick a Catalog Category, then an Item Type — raw chemical, lab reagent, formulation, finished product, consumable, equipment, instrument, spare part or service. The form adapts to your choice: chemical fields appear only for chemical types and stay hidden for equipment or services. You can change the type later and nothing you entered is lost.

Chemicals — CAS auto-fill

For chemical products, enter the CAS number and press Auto-fill. We fetch the molecular formula, weight, GHS hazard classification and synonyms from PubChem. Every field is optional — skip CAS and type the data yourself if you prefer.

Names

"Commercial Name" is your trade/brand name for the product. The separate IUPAC Name field is the formal chemical name. Both are optional.

Media and documents

Add product images on the Media tab. Add SDS and TDS links on the Technical tab so buyers can reach safety and technical data.

Languages

You can fill product text in the languages your plan includes; others are shown locked with an upgrade hint. Your default language is always available.

Publishing

Save and publish when ready. New products may be reviewed before they appear publicly. If your plan allows, you can make one product your Catalog Spotlight to feature it at the top of the catalog.

List anything your company offers — chemicals, formulations, finished goods, equipment, instruments, spare parts or services. Start by choosing a Catalog Category and an Item Type; the form then shows the fields that fit that type.

The Commercial Name is your trade or brand name — what buyers recognise. The IUPAC Name is the formal chemical name. Use Commercial Name for everyday listings; add the IUPAC Name when the precise chemical identity helps buyers. Both are optional.

On a chemical product, type the CAS number and press Auto-fill. We pull the molecular formula, weight, GHS hazard classification and synonyms. Review what comes back and edit freely — every field is optional, and you can skip CAS and enter data by hand.

Yes. When you publish your booth on Chemikalien Expo, your company is automatically mirrored across the entire SCMist expo network — each site presenting you in its own audience's language, with all content available in English, Turkish and German. Your sister sites include:

  • English: scmist.com, sellchemical.com, sellchemicals.com
  • Türkçe: kimyasanayii.com
  • Deutsch: chemikalienexpo.de, chemikalienkatalog.com, chemikalienkatalog.de

One booth, one set of products, found by buyers on every site.

A marketplace bulletin board for verified companies

The Trade Board is where verified companies post buy, sell, and lease offers. Every post is from a verified company. Buyers see your offer and contact you directly — no middleman, no commission.

Three types of posts

  • Sell — offer chemicals, equipment, or services you have
  • Buy — wanted ads for what you need
  • Lease — equipment available for or wanted for lease

Why it works

Unlike open marketplaces, every poster has been verified by this Chemical Digital Expo platform. When you contact a poster, you know you're dealing with a real company.

Post once, visible everywhere

This Chemical Digital Expo platform runs 8 sister domains — each tailored to a country and language:

  • scmist.com (English / global)
  • kimyasanayii.com (Turkish)
  • chemikalienexpo.com / .de (German)
  • chemikalienkatalog.com / .de (German)
  • sellchemical.com / sellchemicals.com (English)

When you publish a Trade Board post, it appears on every sister domain automatically. Your offer reaches buyers visiting from Turkey, Germany, and worldwide — all from one post.

How translation works

Descriptions and SEO are AI-translated into EN / TR / DE. Buyers see your post in their native language without you having to write it three times.

This is one of the biggest differences between this Chemical Digital Expo platform and a single-country directory: one post, three languages, eight domains.

Slot packs: more concurrent posts

Your plan includes a base number of active posts:

  • Starter Company: 2 posts
  • Growth Company: 5 posts
  • Showcase Company: 10 posts

Buy slot packs when you're running into your post limit. Each pack permanently raises your concurrent post cap for one year.

Boost packs: faster sales

A boost lifts one of your posts to the top of the Trade Board for 72 hours. It also gives the post a permanent recency lift afterwards — so even after the boost expires, it keeps performing better.

Use boosts when:

  • You have a time-sensitive offer (excess inventory, expiring lot)
  • You're entering a competitive category and want visibility
  • A buy/sell deal is close and you want to surface to more buyers

Concurrent boost limits

  • Starter: 1 boost at a time
  • Growth: 3 boosts at a time
  • Showcase: 6 boosts at a time

Buy boost packs and slot packs in the Shop.

Three steps

1. Register with a work email and verify your company — a personal email can't hold a company booth. 2. Choose a plan — banner slots are available to companies on a paid plan. 3. Book a slot in the Shop, upload your banner, and you're live.

Where banners appear

Placements include the home-page top and category pages. Each slot lists its size and price in the Shop. When a position is sold out, it becomes bookable again as soon as inventory frees up.

Booking a banner

Open Shop in your dashboard and pick a banner slot. Each slot shows its placement (where it appears), the exact image size, and the price. Checkout charges the current price for the term you buy; later price changes apply only to new purchases and renewals.

After you buy

The slot appears under Banners in your dashboard. Upload your image there, set the link visitors should land on, and your banner goes into rotation.

Sharing a slot

Popular positions are shared by several advertisers and rotate fairly, so everyone gets a turn — see "Tracking your banner performance" for how exposure is balanced.

Spotlight is our premium placement that puts you at the very top of a directory, marked with a gold ★ badge.

There are two kinds:

  • Company Spotlight — your whole company appears in the Spotlight band at the top of the Companies directory.
  • Catalog Spotlight — one product you choose appears in the Spotlight band at the top of the Product Catalog.

Spotlight is an annual add-on, separate from your subscription tier. The gold ★ badge tells visitors this is a featured premium spot.

Spotlight is a paid annual add-on. Once it is active on your account:

  • Company Spotlight is applied to your company automatically.
  • Catalog Spotlight lets you choose which single product is featured. Open your Catalog in the dashboard and tap the ★ star next to the product you want at the top. You can move it to a different product anytime — only one product is featured at a time.

To add Spotlight, use the add-ons in your plan or request a quotation.

Limited slots: Spotlight has a fixed number of slots. If they are all taken it may be temporarily sold out — you can purchase it again once a slot frees up. If you already hold Spotlight, you can always renew without waiting.

Quick answer

The Shop is where you upgrade or extend your subscription mid-cycle. Whatever you bought when you first subscribed (your booth, catalog, plan tier) stays as-is — the Shop is for add-ons on top of that.

What can I buy in the Shop?

  • Plan upgrades — move from Starter to Growth or Showcase to unlock more capacity
  • Trade-board boost packs — push your trade posts to the top of the board
  • Trade-post slots — add more concurrent listings beyond your plan default
  • Extra capacity — extra articles, events, languages, staff seats, co-owner seats
  • Company Spotlight Card — your company featured at the top of the homepage (a grid on the web, a rotating carousel in the iOS app); sold under Banner Slots
  • Banners — premium ad placements across the platform
  • Sister-domain visibility — list your company on additional sister sites for extra reach

How does billing work?

Everything in the Shop is annual billing. You pay once per year, your add-on stays active for 12 months, and you can renew or change it next cycle. All payments are processed securely via Stripe.

Can I add things to a cart?

Yes — pile up as many items as you want into your cart, then check out together in one transaction. Or use Buy now if you only want one item — it skips the cart and goes straight to checkout.

What are sister domains?

This platform operates 8 sister domains, each targeting different audiences and languages: one is English-primary, others are Turkish-primary or German-primary. Every sister domain has its own audience, search-engine presence, and visitor base.

Why list on more than one?

If you registered on the Turkish-primary sister, your company appears there by default. Listing on additional sister domains gives you:

  • More visitor reach — your booth appears to audiences searching on those sites

  • SEO presence — your company name and catalog get indexed across multiple domains

  • Localized appearance — visitors on a German sister site see your booth in German

How is it priced?

Each extra sister-domain listing is €149/year, per language. Per company, not per product. Activate it from the Shop → Sister-domain visibility section.

How fast does my booth appear?

Immediately after payment confirms. Your company profile, catalog, articles, events, and trade-board posts all become visible on the additional sister domain within minutes.

Paid plans renew automatically once a year on the card you used, at the same price you signed up at. You will see the charge from Stripe, our payment processor.

Prefer not to use a card? You can pay by bank transfer using the bank details printed on your invoice.

You can cancel anytime — you keep full access until the period you already paid for ends.

Owners and admins can add team members to the company booth from the dashboard — name, title, photo, short bio and links.

Because a profile shows a real person, each team member must approve what is displayed about them before it goes public. New profiles stay pending until that approval, then appear on your booth. You decide the order they are listed in.
